The cabin suitcase is the suitcase that you can take into the cabin of the aircraft. It is also known as carry-on baggage. This is the baggage that, in theory, will travel with you in the cabin of the aircraft. These bags will be placed in the compartments above the head or under the front seat.

Each Nouvelair passenger can take one or two hand bags and one additional item on board, depending on the class of travel. Hand luggage accepted by this company, including all bags, wheels and handles, must not exceed 55 x 35 x 25 cm.

The personal item (purse, shoulder bag, laptop bag or other electronic device) must not exceed the dimensions stated above.

For hand baggage and additional baggage, the maximum permissible total weight is 5 kg, unless you are traveling to France, Algeria, Belgium, Turkey or the United Kingdom, in this case you will benefit from an improved baggage allowance in carrying 8 kg hand luggage.

What to carry (always) in the handbag?

You’ve reached the decisive moment: what should you put in your purse?

In the handbag you have to put what is really valuable and something in case of an emergency in case your checked baggage is lost or takes a few more days than expected.

It’s not the usual thing but in case it does, you better be prepared, don’t you think?

In the purse it should always go:

– Money and documentation

Without money you won’t get very far when you land and you don’t want to waste your money if your suitcase gets lost.

With which, always, always carry the money with you in your purse or your suitcase.

Documentation is also still needed to identify you, and in some cases even more important than money.

Make sure you have the documentation with you and don’t forget to keep a backup copy elsewhere (physical and digital in the cloud) in case of loss or theft.

You can store it on your google drive, dropbox, wetransfer … There are many options.

  • Electronic objects

It is very important that electronic devices accompany you, as checked baggage takes a few hits. If you carry electronic devices with you on a Nouvelair flight, you will avoid possible breakages: Camera, batteries, chargers, mobile and light up.

Can food be carried in your hand luggage?

At first glance, you shouldn’t have any problems, as it is not declared a prohibited item.

Remember that there are countries that do not accept depending on the product (for example, in Maldives you cannot introduce element from pork, in Mexico you cannot introduce fruit) so you should eat your ham sandwich on the plane if you take it with you before landing in the country if you don’t want any problems.

Transport of liquids in cabin baggage

Passengers may only have on board vials with a capacity of 100 ml maximum in a closed transparent plastic bag, the total capacity of which will be one liter maximum and the dimensions of which will not exceed 20 x 20 cm. Only one bag is allowed per person. Commercial freezer bags can do the trick. Note that most airports have planned to provide them free of charge to passengers.

This rule also applies to creams, gels, pastes and aerosols, as well as soft cheeses (such as Camembert) and foie gras (!). Lipsticks are allowed in the cabin. However, glosses are subject to restrictions and must be put in the transparent bag. Out of the bag are allowed:

– Medicines and medical fluids essential during the flight, with legible and nominative prescription. The security check may ask you to taste them if in doubt.

– Specific nutritional foods without which it is impossible for you to travel (case of allergies to lactose, gluten, etc.).

– Food and drink for the traveling baby. They can be tasted while passing through the checkpoint.

Carry Medicines?

If you have to travel with solid medicines, it is recommended that you carry them in hand luggage. They must be accompanied by the prescription, prescription or specific justification of the passenger’s condition in case the control personnel so request.

Liquid medications are exempt from the liquid restrictions that affect carry-on baggage as long as their use is required by the passenger for the duration of the trip. These drugs must be presented to security and in a transparent bag.

In the case of transporting other types of medical utensils such as diabetic syringes or measuring devices, it is recommended to request the specific procedure from your airline before flying.
